Who is David Jennings ?
Ordained deacon, 1975 and priest, 1975 in Worcester Cathedral to serve as curate in the parish of Halesowen in the Black Country. During this time founded Halesowen Child Poverty Action Group and served on the National Executive. Also, Dudley Deanery Youth Chaplain and chair of West Midlands National Council for Civil Liberties.
1978 – 1980 Director of All Faiths for One Race on the Lozells Road, Handsworth and Honorary Assistant Priest at Holy Trinity, Handsworth. Took part in TV programmes ‘Credo’ (LWT), Bishop’s Move (BBC) and ‘Here Today’ (ATV). In 1978 appointed by Roy Hattersley to serve on the National Consumer Council representing the interests of the disadvantaged.
1980 – 1985 Priest in Charge, Parish of Snibston and Bishop of Leicester’s Community Relations Chaplain. Also, an elected member of North West Leicestershire District Council and Chairman of the Council’s Policy Committee. Whilst in Coalville chaired Citizens’ Advice Bureau, NWL Council for Voluntary Service and the St James’ Employment Project.
Currently, Rector of Burbage with Aston Flamville. Also, chairman of Next Generation (former Hinckley YMCA), Westfield Community Development Association, Burbage Youth Project, Age Concern Hinckley and Burbage, the Diocesan Board for Social Responsibility and Celebrate 80 (planning diocese’s celebration of 80 years in 2006).
