Worshipping tradition
The worship at St Catherine's Chruch, Burbage is within the Liberal Catholic tradiion of the Church of England. At the heart of the worshipping life of the Church is the Holy Eucharist: the people of God gather each week at the altar to be fed, nourished and challenged to perform the works of God, serve his/her people within the community and beyond. Appropriate ceremony accompanies and enhances the worhip: vestments are worn, there is a strong musical tradition with a significant choral input and incense is used for the great festivals of the Church.
All are welcome to this great act of celebration and there are facilities for younger people in the Sparklers (Junior Church) and a supervised creche for the very young.
The Parish Eucharist is celebrated each Sunday at St Catherine's and alternate Sundays at St Peter's using the Common Worhip rite. At the 0800 Holy Communion and the 1800 Evensong the Book of Common Prayer is used. There is a celabration of Holy Communion each Wednesday at 1000 and on Saints' Days at 1930 (1000 on Saturdays). The Daily Offices of Morning and Evening Prayer are said in Church each day
